Helping organizations and entrepreneurs with:
Product Strategy,
Product Execution,
Product Delivery
Overview
Each new initiative, project, feature or story developed, is an investment in an organization’s future. However, studies have shown that 50%, 60%, and even 70% of features developed are not used. So, how does an organization ensure the investments they make, deliver on the promises they have made?
Prioritize the initiatives your organization is investing in,
based on the value they deliver to your customers and your organization.
At Sakal Consulting, we help organizations and entrepreneurs create a Product Strategy that delivers value to their customers through a balanced mix of sustaining, incremental, and disruptive innovation initiatives. We help define the appropriate Product Management guardrails an organization should follow to reduce the risk of developing each initiative type. And, finally, we help organizations ensure Product Delivery fulfills the promise of delivering value, by monitoring the Organizational Key Results (OKR’s) to ensure value is delivered, throughout the Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).

Product Strategy
Our Product Strategy phase begins with a Product Portfolio Analysis (PPA). The PPA is a proprietary approach to analyzing all the initiatives, projects, and features in an organization’s backlog. The goal of the PPA is to create a balanced portfolio of sustaining, incremental and disruptive innovation initiative types, prioritized by the value they deliver to an organization’s key customer personas.

Product Execution
Product Execution discussions typically focus on which Product Management framework an organization should use such as Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe. However, at Sakal Consulting, we encourage organizations to focus on the guardrails their chosen methodology should follow to implement sustaining, incremental, or disruptive innovation initiatives. Examples guardrails include timebox limits for MVP development of disruptive innovation, adoption goals for incremental innovation, and effort limits for sustaining innovation.

Product Delivery
Product Delivery is not the end of a project or initiative, it is just the beginning. Product delivery focuses on measuring if the initiatives delivered are helping achieve organizational objectives and provide measurable value to customers. For example: Are sustaining initiatives reducing churn? Are incremental innovations improving Life Time Value (LTV)? Are disruptive innovations opening up new markets and increasing ARR. The answers to these questions and more will then feed an organizations ongoing Product Strategy.
